- In 1969, after 20 years experience
as a factory representative for Chrysler, Trailmobile
and White Motor Company, G.S. "Wendol" Holcomb
purchased the Sioux Falls dealership from White
Motor Company and
renamed it Holcomb White Trucks.
- In 1982, the company's name was
changed to Holcomb Freightliner, Inc.
- In 1985,
the company was named Freightliner's National
Dealer of the Year.
- In 1997, Holcomb bought the Sioux
City Freightliner dealership.
Mr. Holcomb
was one of three finalists for the Truck
Dealer of
the Year given by the Truck Sales
& Leasing magazine and the American Truck Dealers
Association. The honor is awarded based on
excellence in business
practice, industry leadership and community
service.
- In 1999, Holcomb built a brand
new 48,000 square foot facility in Sioux
City.
- In 2000, the company acquired
the Condor franchise.
- In 2001, the Sterling franchise
was added.
- In 2002, the Unimog franchise
was added.
Over 34 years,
the dealership has received numerous Freightliner
honors. Following Wendol's example, Holcomb
Trucks continues to provide top-quality vehicles,
parts and service
and maintains an excellent customer relations
reputation.
